Scenic Artist & Props Builder
About me
About Me
I’m a scenic artist, prop builder, model builder, and a maker of things. I love stories and exploring the different ways in which we tell them. Combined with a passion for art and painting, this has led me to pursue a career where I can tell stories through their physical settings - building props and scenery for actors and audiences alike to explore and play in.
At Guildhall School of Music and Drama I studied Technical Theatre Arts, developing skills in prop building, scenic art, scenic construction, and stage management. There I built the foundation of my skills while learning from industry professionals.
Upon graduating, I returned home to Alberta and began working, primarily as a scenic artist, at Citadel Theatre, Edmonton Opera, and Art Lab Design and Build. I worked on a wide variety of shows during this time, from a pre-Broadway run of Hadestown, to a bright and colourful Ukrainian dance show Mosquito’s Wedding. While each show was unique in design, the sense of collaboration was consistent. In each of the companies I worked with I found a community of people who shared my love of theatre and shared their passion with everyone around them. Experiencing those environments has led me to try and foster the same sense of community and positivity in every team I join.
Since moving to Toronto, I’ve freelanced as a scenic artist, been Head of Props at the Blyth Festival, painted and decorated larger than life floats for the Toronto Santa Claus Parade, and entered the world of miniature model building with Little Canada. Regardless of the scale, I’m always excited to work on something a little bit different and enjoy the new challenges that come with each project I take on.
Taking pride in my work, I’m always looking forward to what comes next. Be it learning new skills, problem solving with my skills in a new way, or just having new stories to tell. I’m always excited to learn about new opportunities, and to share some of my previous work. If you’re interested in my work and would like to talk more, I would love to hear from you!
